Clear Your Mind
Get Some Fresh Air
Sometimes what you need is a change of scenery. Getting outside, no matter what time of year, is a great way to clear you head. Take a short walk or go sit on a park bench with a latte and take it all in. You can learn some relaxation breathing techniques here. You may be surprised how well deep breathing works!
Meditate
Often just thinking through the challenges of your day can be a tremendous relief. You may be surprised to learn you can meditate just about anywhere- even in your office! Mindful.org has a great technique for “chair meditation.”
Aromatherapy
Certain scents can trigger happy, relaxed memories. Think about scents that take you back to a more peaceful time. Maybe it’s cut grass, or the scent of fresh baked sugar cookies. Whatever it is, odds are that there is an essential oil blend, a candle or a diffuser in that scent. Expose yourself to scents that you find calming (lavender is another good one!) and take a moment to do a little mindful breathing to clear your mind.
Massage Therapy
If you tend to hold your stress in your neck or back, massage therapy can work wonders. When I am incredibly tense a massage is often the only thing that resets my state of mind.
Yoga
Yoga is a great way to forget your worries and immerse yourself in something healthy. If you’re not currently taking yoga classes and would prefer to do yoga from home, Yoga with Adriene is a great YouTube channel. She even has yoga exercises specifically for stress and anxiety.
