We all have a touch of bathroom envy from time to time- I know I have a Pinterest board with hundreds of pins devoted to gorgeous, jaw-dropping bathrooms that I will probably never be able to afford, but they are sooo fun to look at. But it’s time to get back to reality with some affordable bathrooms because they can be beautiful, too! My bathroom currently has a dark brown tub, toilet and matching sink. It is totally GAG. Like nothing you’ve ever seen. It is going to be one heck of a before and after though when the time comes. (And I thought the time was going to come last summer but it did not…) I won’t have heated marble floors or a separate soaker tub in my tiny main bath, but it will still be fresh and clean and updated and awesome!
Let’s take a look at some bathrooms for the rest of us. 🙂
Affordable Bathroom Ideas
Up first, this DIY vanity top makeover makes a world of difference in this space! You may be thinking wood in a bathroom is a terrible idea, but with a water lock sealer you have nothing to worry about. Water will bead and wipe right up. This adds a great farmhouse feel to a small space. I love the green mirror, too- it’s a great pop of color in a space with a lot of white. Bathroom vanities are a focal point, so be sure to have one that says “look at meeee!!!”
Check out this before and after at Hometalk! What a difference painting the cabinets (and countertop!) makes! Fresh white cabinets, updated hardware and framing out the contractor mirror did this room a world of good on a small budget. Fresh linens and accessories make it look like a whole new bathroom!
An updated, modern vanity doesn’t have to break the bank! Check out online retailers, like Amazon, to see what deals can be found. Bathroom vanities for small spaces don’t have to break the bank – look at this 24″ vanity that includes the sink, faucet and a mirror- all for $200! Not bad at all.
Need something a little larger? Larger bathroom vanities, like this 36″ vanity that also includes the countertop, sink, faucet and mirror is affordable at around $475!
Just because a bathroom is small doesn’t mean it can’t be fantastic! Since your costs will be lower due to the size of your project, splurge on some awesome, eye catching floor tile, like these homeowners did:
Subway tile is a classic look that will never go out of style, so you have nothing to worry about if you choose to install it. It’s also super easy to install as a DIY! Look at how beautiful this room is! The homeowner/designed went with subway tile throughout because it is so affordable. I absolutely love the built in wall niche that runs the length of the tub. So much better than those wire shower caddies that get all gross.
This simple bathroom is just lovely. Floor to ceiling subway tile is, again, an economical and classic choice. The patterned floor tiles are a splurge. I love that this room will still look amazing and be completely in style 20 years from now.
Style at Home
DIY board & batten walls topped with modern tile give this space a very modern look. Check out Our Home Made Easy for great before and afters, and also their idea board that inspired a great renovation.
Pedestal sinks are a great way to save money and still have a beautiful bathroom when your reno is completed. I love this square pedestal sink that is complemented by the straight lines of the wood-look ceramic tile.
This last bathroom is one of my all time favorites, and is partly to blame for me wanting a dresser style vanity in our bathroom. Between the awesome tile floor, the dresser and the shiplap, it is the PERFECT farmhouse bathroom. <swoon> Shiplap is super affordable and a LOT easier than dry walling or repairing seriously damaged plaster walls. This bathroom has “DIY” all over it, making it very affordable. I just love it!
These bathroom remodel ideas are pretty amazing! I am feeling motivated once again to start thinking about tackling our Brown Bummer of a Bathroom.
Related Tip: Did you know bathroom remodels are one of the best ways to improve the value of your home? Since this is the case, a home equity loan may help you complete your bathroom reno sooner rather than later! At Lending Tree, lenders compete to get you the best possible rate. It’s free to apply to see what you qualify for. I used Lending Tree years ago to refinance a mortgage and the process was so easy- we didn’t even have to leave our house. The bank came to us and we signed everything right at our dining room table!
