I love Halloween! It is by far my favorite holiday. I always could not wait to dress my girls up in creative, fun costumes that were not the usual storebought costumes it seemed everyone else was wearing. I actually took sewing in high school only to be able to sew my kids’ costumes!
Wait until you see these fabulous ideas. There is nothing usual about these Halloween costumes! Wow the neighborhood with these creative costumes you won’t see on every other kid- and that your kids will look darling wearing on Halloween!
Can you even stand it?! These sweet baby Madelines are perfect if you have little girls, twins or want to trick or treat on Halloween with your BFF and her baby.
Perfect for boys and girls, your aspiring astronaut will go crazy over this costume!
Costume Works
Not much is cuter than this pair of fluffy feathery chicks! This would be a nice, warm costume choice for colder climates, too. We’re from Illinois, so my kids were always bummed that they couldn’t be mermaids and other “warm weather” ideas when they were little!
Just stahpppppp. Those cheeks! Wigs made from pompoms and glasses with pearl straps are perfect on these little Golden Girls! These costumes are exactly why this holiday is so much fun!
This sweet SCUBA diver costume uses a 2-liter soda bottle and a pacifier to create the tank! Of course, it’s the wrong time of year to find a swim mask in stores so you can get one here if you need one.
Your cute cowboy can help with this costume! Made from a box, this Painted Pony can go from costume and straight to your child’s make-believe costume trunk.
Keeping with the farm theme, this sibling costume idea is too cute! Have three kids? Add the cowboy above! After all, every cowboy (or cowgirl) needs a farmer and a baby calf.
This cow costume is storebought but super cute and not “cheesy” looking- in other words, it’s as cute as homemade with love. 😉
This pint-sized Clark Kent is sure to steal hearts all day long!
Not everyone will recognize this tiny Frida Kahlo, but those who do will love (and appreciate) it!
Your budding feminist will get plenty of recognition as Rosie the Riveter this Halloween! The foamboard, bandana and toolbox (in black) are all Dollar Tree items!
Flamingos are all the rage this year and it’s easy to see why with this sweet costume! Attention to Darling has all of the details for this DIY masterpiece!
This Mad Scientist will be a hit with boys and girls of all ages! Who doesn’t love a little science?
There’s no crying in baseball- especially when you’re a Rockford Peach! Everyone loves A League of Their Own and everyone will love this awesome costume. Girls rock!
Be the MVP of Halloween with this awesome trophy costume! Customize it for your child’s favorite sport. Check Goodwill for an old helmet and use a plastic bat (so it’s nice & lightweight) for the bat.
Your budding artist will love this easy DIY costume! Too cute! And the best part? Your little helper can make a mess on the apron to help with the costume. 🙂
Aren’t these too cute? I can’t wait (but then again, I am totally NOT READY) for grandkids to deck out on Halloween! Which is your favorite? I hope my girls let me commandeer my granddaughters someday- they can go from Baby Chick to Granny to Madeline to Flamingo to Georgia Peach to Frida to Rosie to Astronaut. Think they will mind if I take over the first 8 years? Probably. <sigh>
Don’t forget the perfect trick or treating tote- like this one by Mud Pie– to hold your loot!
