It’s noon somewhere! (Is that how it goes? That’s how it goes around here when we have a full house of weekend warriors- cheers!) This holiday is no different, so I thought I should probably find some fun cocktail recipes on Pinterest! With the 4th of July being on a Wednesday this year, which I am not liking, by the way, we have guests visiting the weekend before and after the holiday.
At this point, I have no plans for the 4th itself- I don’t even know if my husband will come home from IL because it’s kind of a waste of time for him to drive to IL Monday morning, come back Tuesday night, leave again Thursday morning, and head back here Friday night. Sounds like a traffic nightmare to me, but I’ll let him decide. 😉 Anyway- let’s get down to business and check out some fun, holiday-inspired cocktail recipes and everything you may need for the perfect summer set up!
Looks Like Happy’s Favorite Cocktail-y Things:
- First up are these fabulous anchor cocktail picks by Fred. They are stainless steel with a gold finish. We live on a lake- there was no way I was passing these up when I found them in Florida last winter!
- Next up, I *love* this cocktail bar set! The bamboo stand is super cool and it has everything you could possibly need- minus the booze.
- My last favorite thing is disposable paper drinking straws. I love these because they are fun and biodegradable, with no chance of harming wildlife. You might think paper cannot withstand a drink, but it’s heavy paper and they hold up surprisingly well!
Ok- bottoms up!
First, we have this fun Sparkling Red, White and Blue Sangria from Gimme Some Oven. Ali has *amazing* recipes and I am sure this one will not disappoint. Sangria is a great drink for any time of day. Ok, fine, maybe any time of afternoon or evening. This recipe is so festive it would be great to bring to a BBQ or to have ready for a quick drink with neighbors.
If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain, If you´re not into yoga, if you have half a brain, then these Red, White & Blue Pina Coladas are going to be a “must make” for your BBQ. (Remember the pina colada song? It’s actually before my time, which is a phrase I am saying fewer than ever these days, but it’s somehow hilarious and awful at the same time.) Sadly, my blender cannot handle ice. I think I need a Ninja if I am going to do this Lake Life thing correctly! IMO, you cannot go wrong with whipped cream. Top this with a drunken cherry (up next) and you’re set!
Have you seen these Drunken Cherries before? Oh. My. FUN! These are fantastic! Round 2 of our holiday weekend involves some 24ish year olds and I am going to win the “Most Fun Friend of My Mom’s” award with some fun drinks. (No risk of drinking & driving when you live in a town that offers very little in the way of entertainment & everything closes by 9pm, lol!) These would be great on the pina coladas above, but also in any hard liquor-based drink, too.
Cosmopolitan has some fun with these Suddenly Summer drinks! I love the layers- it’s all about the order in which you pour the liquid. Another great drink for a drunken cherry topper!
This Red, White and Blue Sparkling Blueberry Punch looks so refreshing! And, I love IZZE beverages, so I bet this is really good! Did you know Smirnoff makes a Sorbet Light Pineapple Coconut? I did not. But now that I do….
Everyone loves a shandy! They seem to be a universal drink- great for beer lovers, wine lovers, and everyone in between. This Watermelon Shandy looks delicious!
These lemonade slushies are turned blue with Blue Curacao- which seems to be a staple of patriotic drinks! Learn how to make these 4th of July Lemonade Slushies at Lemon and Mocha. With just 4 ingredients they are super easy to make. I love the little flag toothpicks, too!
So, which one will you start with? I’m torn between the sangria and the blueberry punch! I guess it will depend on if I can find the Smirnoff coconut sorbet liquor or not in this tiny town. My neighbors love sangria, so I will definitely be making this very soon!
