Summer vacation is almost here, which means it is time to start planning some awesome activities for your kids! Make memories this summer with these super fun activities that won’t break the bank. Know why? They are TOTALLY FREE! These are great ideas to spread throughout the summer to stave off the inevitable onslaught of “I’m boooorrrrreeeedddddd’s” that are sure to be uttered at some point!
One of my kids’ favorite thigs to do when they were little was our anual treasure hunt at our cottage in Michigan. As they got older, it got harder. We have so many pictures of the girls treasure hunting and their expressions range from laughter to frustration when they *think* they found the treasure but didn’t! Even now they are in their 20’s and expect an annual hunt.
The below printables are checklists, so your kids can keep track of what they want to do and what they have done all summer! That way when they go back to school and they are asked what they did over vacation they won’t answer with “nothing….” 😉
With only 18 summers before your kids move on to adult life (and less than that, really, because let’s face it- teenagers would rather hang with their friends) it’s important to make every year count. So, have a blast with your kids because it goes quickly!
If after all of this, and all of the other activities and outings you have planned, they are still bored, I guess there is nothing left for them to do but clean! I hope they enjoy this “one hour kids’ cleaning challenge!” (I know my kids sure used to love this alternative to being “bored.” <snicker>)
If your kids love journaling (or need practice with their creative writing or penmanship,) these Summer Journals are really nice! They have prompts for day to day summer activities and also vacations.
What are your plans for this summer? Any fun ideas I can add to next year’s roundup of ideas?
