I am an avid Amazon shopper. I’ve mentioned before that when we moved into our house last year, the UPS guy thanked me for his job security. <hides> Rarely a week (and it’s more like a few days) goes by without placing an Amazon order. They make it so easy! I can have items shipped to me, my daughters, my mom, nieces & nephews, pretty much EVERYONE, easily and within two days. If my college daughter needs new sheets, for example, I can order them and have them shipped directly to her and they are there in 2 days. (Or less, since she lives in Chicago where Amazon offers SAME DAY delivery on tons of stuff! I really miss that now that we live in the woods…) Do you have Amazon Prime? If not, definitely check it out for FREE with a 30-day free trial! You will be amazed by the number of awesome deals that can be at your door in 2 days, shipped for FREE!
Anyway- no one is new here; you know how Amazon works. But did you know there is a browser extension for Amazon that shows you the best price from all sellers?!
I KNOW! Neither did I. But there is. And it’s called Honey and it is A.MAZ.ING. (<– that’s my referral link.)
I installed it this morning. It took 2 seconds. 2 seconds to save money, which allows me to BUY MORE AT AMAZON? Yes, please!
Check this out…I decided to look for new gym shoes, because it’s raining and I have yard work to do and of course my crummy old shoes are in MI and I am in IL. So pretty much my shoes are getting trashed today, but today is the day for yard work, raining or not.
Ok, let’s shop! I chose a pair of Nike shoes:
Since these shoes have multiple options, Honey will prompt you to choose your size and color:
Once you choose your options, Honey will check for the best price:
It turns out, these shoes are $5.55 less at another merchant- that’s like buying new shoes AND getting a free Starbucks. You can’t go wrong with Honey!
If you click on the Honey tab that shows your savings, you will see the savings comparison:
Add the item to your cart and the BEST THING EVER happens! Check this out:
That’s right, Honey checks for the best prices of EVERYTHING IN YOUR CART ***and*** in your “saved for later” section.
Since I added the mermaid and pineapple beach towel to my cart from my phone, I did not see the Honey comparisons. As you can see, the pineapple towel is the best price available, but the mermaid has had two recent price changes, so I can decide if I want to purchase it now, or move it to the “save for later” section to see if the price drops. By clicking on “View Price History” you can see if the price drops have been significant, which may make you wait to purchase an item if it is something you don’t need right away. (More on this next, we have to get to the fun part of my cart!)
So, as you can see, I have several items in the “saved for later” section of my cart, one of which is a personal location device for my dad. He’s 68 and recently moved to Arkansas to live out his days riding an ATV on trails throughout the country, which doesn’t seem like the safest thing in the world for someone who can’t figure out how to use the cell phone we forced upon him when he decided to move to Arkansas. <gahhhhhhh> Anyway, when he buys the ATV, we’ll be gifting him this device. I am pretty excited to see the $17 price drop! Now I can decide if I want to purchase it now, or wait. And you know Amazon- it’s $17 less right now, and it could be $22 less tomorrow or $48 more next week. <gahhhhh again>
Ok- backing up a step- Under each price comparison, there is another box with the “h+” Honey symbol that allows you to add an item to your price drop list. If you choose to add the item to your watch list, you can select to watch the price for 30, 60 or 90 days, and you can set the price you want to be alerted to, as shown below.
I cannot believe I’ve never heard of this- hopefully I am sharing info that is new to you, too! I love saving money on items we want and need, and Amazon Prime is usually my “go to” place for anything I cannot find at local businesses (I am a big supporter of the “Shop Small” movement!) because their prices are great. Usually I do a quick manual price comparison, but this is 1000x better because it is instant and compares every “like” item available.
Honey is not only for Amazon, either! You can save money at so many stores! Honey offers cash back savings at awesome stores that change regularly:
And coupons to your favorite stores, too!
I don’t know about you, but I am SUPER excited to have discovered Honey! This is going to save so much money on my Amazon purchases and so many other purchases as well!
And, don’t forget to do your Amazon shopping through Amazon Smile! You get the same great deals AND it benefits the charity of your choice:
AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon with the same products, prices, and shopping features as Amazon.com. The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice.
