We are all so busy these days, and if you’re like me, you’re always looking for ways to save time and eliminate headaches. These 10 life hacks are things you may not have seen before – and will save you some time or some headaches!
Painter’s Tape
You know how when you’re trying to hang a picture or a mirror that has more than one hole to line up, how you inevitably drill more holes than necessary or have to bend the nail at a weird angle to get it to hang straight? I know I have more than one picture hanging on my wall with multiple holes behind it…. Anyway- check this out! So easy. Mark your holes on the painter’s tape and then transfer the tape to your wall. Why didn’t I think of this?!
Colored Keys
Color code your keys so you know what key is for what door from now on! We seem to have a lot of keys and now that they are all color coded I know exactly who’s they are. (The key to my mom’s house is pink- because she loves flamingos, lol!)
Earbuds
What to do with all of those wine corks. What. to. doooo… I love having my cords contained and I am always wrapping them around things. It drives my husband nuts! I have wine corks all over the place for my earbuds.
Carabiners
So, I stopped carrying a purse last year because I realized it wasn’t really holding anything important and it was one more thing to lug around. I bought this phone case that holds my debit card, license, other cards and some cash, which meant the only thing left to figure out what to do with was my keys. A carabiner did the trick! It easily clips my keys to shopping carts and even my dog’s leash if we go somewhere for a hike. Problem solved! (See my color-coded keys? And the cute Michigan key for my house key? There is one key that is not a color and I have no idea what it is for. Boo. I should pay better attention to my life hacks!)
Carabiners are so handy! Clip one to your dog’s leash so you can easily attach their leash to anything.
And one more carabiner hack – I have a stash of rubber bands just like this in my car.
Command Hooks
You know what’s super gross? When the garbage bag slides down into the can (which of course NO ONE noticed, nor bothered to fix!!) and you have to fish it out, getting nasty goop all over your hand. Command hooks stuck to the side of the garbage can solve that mess!
Drinking Straws
Never have a tangled heap of necklaces again with this hack! Works like a charm- my daughter used this hack when she moved and uses it when she travels!
Old Magazines
Keep your boots looking brand new by rolling up already-read magazines and sticking them inside. (You can also use pool noodles.)
Deliciously Organized
Frozen Ice Cream
Now this one just made me feel stoopid. Of course cutting ice cream while it is frozen is the best and easiest way to serve it! Duh!
Time
And one more for the Life Hacks stash, which is technically #11, but by far my favorite tip:
I started doing this about a year ago – I can load or unload my dishwasher in the time it takes my Keurig to make coffee for myself and my husband, or redistribute people’s stuff out of the kitchen while reheating leftovers. If it only takes a few minutes, just get it done!
