Show your guests how happy you are to see them by creating a home away from home for them during their stay. More than ever, we expect a level of luxury while traveling. No one dreams of staying at a mediocre hotel and your guests are no exception! Creating a cozy, welcoming guest room is easy- take a look at the inspirational rooms below, and the essentials you can add to your guest room that will make your guests want to stay awhile.
This cozy guest room makes me wish this was my relative’s house! The cozy bed, the unusual use of a dough bowl for pillows and blankets, and the chandelier are tied together perfectly with the subtle color palette of this amazing guest room. I have always wanted a sleigh bed and I looove this one. Sadly I have never had a house where a sleigh bed would “fit in.” Maybe my next one… I am definitely ordering the “Stay Awhile” sign for our guest room! I have a print that I framed but it’s just not cutting it…

A convenient DIY charging station so your guests don’t have to search for an open outlet makes it much easier for guests to charge their phones and tablets. Go the extra mile and provide cords for Apple and Android devices- nothing is worse than arriving at your destination only to realize you’ve forgotten your charger at home! We have guests most weekends of the year and you’d be surprised how often people forget their chargers at home!

Fluffy terrycloth bathrobes are an easy way to make your guests more comfortable. (Tied on their hanger lets you know if they have been used or not to avoid the extra step of washing something that was not used.)

First Home Love Life assembled this guest room basket that gives your guests everything they may need in a compact space: magazines, water, snacks, lotion, mints, lip balm and several other items they may have forgotten to pack. I like to pick up tourist guides/local magazines when I am out and about so our guests have something relevant to their visit to look through.
Towels dedicated for guest use only, and tied with a ribbon with a welcome note, are sure to make your guest feel as special as they are.
Liz Marie thinks of everything with this large glass jar filled with samples and travel size bath necessities.
Your guests won’t need access to a closet if there is a clothing rack for them to hang clothing- especially if they are visiting for an event.
Don’t forget the wifi! Displayed in a pretty frame, your guests will appreciate not having to ask for your network and password info- especially if they arrive late at night.
And to make it all just a little bit easier to prep when guests are on their way, I have created a handy printable Guest Room Check List.
