It seems like everyone is feeling the Fixer Upper vibe lately- I know we are! We have had so much fun decorating each room as we remodel our family’s old cottage! I love turning to Pinterest for inspiration and elements from these 12 living rooms are perfect ideas to incorporate into your own style to create the perfect farmhouse living room retreat in your home!
Just in time for fall, this farmhouse living room has all the right touches- pumpkins, wheatgrass and a beautiful vintage-look terrarium filled not with plants, but with books. The comfy chair and ottoman poof will probably make you want to curl up with a cup of tea and a good book! Since the coffee table is super distressed you won’t need to worry about your little darlings hurting it, either.

Matching chairs provide additional seating and a vintage trunk acts as a coffee table while providing much needed additional storage space. We have a similar trunk in our family room and it holds all of our gift wrapping supplies! If you have a Habitat for Humanity ReStore near you, they are a great source for vintage doors. I’ve bought great doors there from $6-$30 there! Be sure to take a look through Little Vintage Nest’s blog to see her great decor!

This cozy living room flows effortlessly into the kitchen area, therefore allowing you to remain engaged with family and friends while performing hosting duties. Since the living room, dining room and kitchen all flow together this space is great for entertaining and day-to-day living alike! The loveseat and sofa furniture set is such a great neutral tone- I love sets that you can decorate seasonally with throws and pillows!
Get the look: I love this furniture set! It is overstuffed with down and offers a sofa, loveseat, chair and ottoman, available in slate or fawn, both of which are gorgeous neutral shades to fit your style. The best part? It has awesome reviews and is very affordable!
Proverbs 31 Girl– Take a look- she has amazing style!
Give your fireplace a facelift with shiplap for an instant farmhouse feel! Wood warms up this space and as a result, you have a cozy refuge for entertaining and family evenings by the fire.
Get the look: Again, I am going with this furniture set! I’m seriously in love. Check out this review, “So far the chair has been subjected to wet and/or muddy dog paws, as well as one or two water spills. The fawn colored fabric cleaned quickly with just a rag and water with no residual staining.” Whaaaaat?! Paired with this farmhouse coffee table and some fluffy pillows to match your decor and you are all set. I *love* Homegoods for pillows. They have an amazing supply of down-filled pillows to use year-round and also for every season.
As if the squishy sofa pillows weren’t welcoming enough, this living room is oozing with charm! From the chalkboard to the tobacco basket “frame,” this is a room to live in! The terrarium on the table has another use by holding cotton stems.

This large rustic coffee table is big enough for family game night or quite an appetizer spread with friends! Overstuffed sofa cushions and plenty of pillows make for a comfy retreat for guests, while the open concept kitchen/living area lets the hosts prepare food and refresh drinks and remain part of the conversation.

Pillows in varying textures and patterns, a succulent and large clock complete this perfectly cozy seating area. The plants add life to this simple space.

A French country tufted sofa, windmill, and the unusual use of a chicken feeder combine to make this eclectic living room super cozy. As a result, this space is an Instagram favorite!

Treasured family photographs in rustic frames of varying sizes turn this farmhouse reading corner into a delightful space. Pair two matching slipper chairs with coordinating, yet not identical, pillows to get this look.

Giant fluffy pillows in addition to a basket full of blankets? Yes, please! The red barn in the background is just perfect. Most of all, this slipcovered sectional with a zillion additional fluffy down-filled pillows looks like the Perfect Nap.
Get the look: Slipcovered sofa in natural– the reviews for this Stone & Beam furniture line are blowing my mind! It’s hard to buy furniture sight unseen online, so detailed reviews are very important. This line has amazing reviews- check out this review (1 of many) of this sectional: I love, love, love my slipcovered sectional. It fits my space perfectly and is so comfortable. The cushions are very full and sturdy, the color is great, the fabric is a densely woven twill that seems to clean easily. I have already recommended the sectional to a couple of friends. Ordering from an online site, without previewing it in person is a leap of faith, but with the good ratings and photos, I took a chance. So happy I did, it saved me thousands of dollars over the competition. We live in an area that is not conducive to in-store shopping, and while we have not yet had to buy new furniture for this house, we will be redoing the family room soon and I am definitely going to consider this furniture line!
This understated living room has all of the elements of the perfect “less is more” farmhouse living room. The large clock is ideal as the main focal point, while the white slip-covered sofas are a traditional farmhouse staple. The blanket ladder, crates-turned-end table, and greenery turn this living room into a perfectly cozy farmhouse retreat. As a result, you have an orderly, yet very welcoming, space.

And finally, another slip-covered sofa turns this cozy living room into a stylish haven. The mirrored windows on either side of the mantle add both depth and light to this space. As a result, this small room feels larger for your guests. The hand-painted sign and flower-filled vases complete this Spring inspired room.

Aren’t these great living rooms? I can’t wait to redo our family room soon and use some “homey” touches like these to make it nice and comfy! As you can see, neutral seating and furniture sets are the common thread between each of these rooms. They allow for so much creativity and color to be brought forth in other elements- I just love neutral sofas and chairs!
