It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! It seems like the stores are ready earlier than usual this year! I have been in Illinois at our apartment since the week of Thanksgiving and I CANNOT WAIT to get to our cottage in Michigan so I can decorate for the holidays. While Halloween is my favorite holiday, Christmas is my favorite holiday to decorate for! (And Christmas is slowly edging out Halloween now that our kids are grown…) I love making our house so cozy and inviting, even if no one really visits, lol! The fireplace adds to the feel and with it being two-sided I have TWO mantles to decorate! Last year was our first Christmas in that house so I only had decorations for one side, so this year I will acquire decorations for the other side. <yay!>

Christmas Mantles
If you have a mantle you’re going to love these inspirational ideas! I have a big thing for buffalo check this year, so it *might* influence my choices a bit…
Let’s see what Pinterest has to offer today.
Well, this is pretty perfect. So simple, but I just love it. Lucky for us the sign is available at Etsy!
This is just beautiful! The deer are available at Ballard Design and are made of lightweight polyresin, so they are easy to move around. If you do not have mercury glass candlesticks they are available here and can be used all year long on your mantle!
This mantle and fireplace is so festive! I love the brightness of the green and red and this would be so easy to DIY. (Here is an easy tutorial for a DIY canvas sign.)
If modern vintage is your thing, this mantle is perfection- right down to the vintage deer decorations in blue and pink! I love gold lately so this mantle is gorgeous to me. I have never seen a shelf above a mantle like this one, but it is perfect for displaying ornaments.
This mantle is so much fun! I love how it is bright without it being overly bright. You can find similar stockings here and the JOY sign should be an easy DIY.
WOW! This is sooooo glam! I would love to do this- but I don’t think my husband would go for it. This looks so cozy…I may never leave the room! I love faux fur pillows, too- these look super soft! Get the PEACE marquee lighting here.
It’s really hard to decide on a style to deck the halls in when there are so many fun options! I love this turquoise “taxidermy” deer! This would be really fun at our cottage in the woods. If turquoise isn’t your color they come in several options- including white with gold antlers. Vintage bottle brush trees and a simple “Merry Christmas” banner complete this minimalist look.
Would you believe this mantle was inspired by the “Very Merry” banner on the mantle? Would you also believe it was $3 in the Dollar Spot at Target? You can find great holiday decorations everywhere and they don’t need to cost a fortune. The chalkboard wrapping paper is such a fun touch!
I love the muted colors of this mantle. It makes me want to buy new stockings this year. 😉

This one might be my favorite- I love the barn wood behind the deer! The rustic white candles are a nice contrast to the red string garland, too.
So, what do you think? Do you have a favorite? It’s really hard to decide! I love making a fire when our mantle is decorated. It just looks so cozy and warm.
Christmas Decorating Hacks
These hacks are brilliant! And, they don’t cut corners to make your house look “chintzy” either- we’ll have none of that!
Christmas Hack #1:
Use a curtain rod to hang stockings. I use a dowel rod wrapped in ribbon, but I like this A LOT better!
Christmas Hack #2:
Use TWO sizes of lights to make your tree amazing! Who knew?! Not me. This looks awesome. This is not the best photo, but even so you can totally see the improvement adding a second set of larger lights makes!
Christmas Hack #3:
If you have a window that needs a little dressing up, don’t start getting all loosey-goosey with a hammer and nails in your trim! Use a tension rod instead!
Aren’t these great?! Now I really can’t wait to get to Michigan to decorate. Now I just need to remember to add an extra set of larger lights to the tree. 😉
