Summer is here and with that comes wanting to do everything outdoors! After being cooped up all winter and most of this spring, you may have a bit of summer fever. Before you start planning the Ultimate Camping Trip, you can bring that camp feel home and save yourself the trouble of packing and spending the weekend fighting bugs! (Can you tell I am not a camper? I’ve tried. I’ve really, REALLY tried and I’m just not good at it. The last time we tent camped, tropical storm Nicole came through Vermont and 8″ of water ran directly through our tent, so I have a valid reason why I no longer camp….) So, like I said, you can have all of the campfire goodness with these fun recipes made in the comfort of your home! Win!
While I am not a big camper, I am big on outdoor dining. We eat outdoors as often as possible, either at our oversized picnic table by the lake when friends and families are visiting, or at our little bistro set for 2-4 people up on our deck. Here are some of Looks Like Happy’s Favorite Al Fresco Things:
- I try to make as few trips as possible from the kitchen to the lake, and absolutely love this bamboo caddy! There is room for everything you need: plates, napkins, condiments, silverware, salt & pepper- all on one easy to carry tray.
- If you don’t care for bugs in your food, these pop-up mesh food tents are awesome! They keep the flies out of the coleslaw for sure. This extra large tent is pretty cool- almost everything should fit underneath.
- If you feel like you will miss having ants at your party, these cute napkins should suffice. I bought a ton of these in a gingham check last year and they are so cute!
Ready to cook?
Up first, no campfire is complete without S’mores! This S’mores Dip looks so good! I think I will make it for my daughter and her group of friends who are using our lake house this weekend. Much easier than trying to teach a 20-year-old how to make a fire over the phone….
