It’s Back to School time, which means it’s time to be on your A-game to make sure getting back into the ol’ routine goes as smoothly as possible. One easy way to make mornings a whole lot better is to meal prep school lunches. I have scoured Pinterest to find 10 meal prep school lunch ideas your kids will LOVE. And better yet? They can make these lunches with minimal participation from you. Ahhhh….<exhale> self-sufficiency is a lesson kids need to learn as early as possible.
One item you may want to pick up for meal prepping are these reusable (but disposable if you should happen to find one under the seat of your car 4 months from now <yuck>) rectangular containers. They are BPA free, come in a package of 20 and are perfect for kids lunches. If your kids are not into their food touching, which I totally understand, these have 3 compartments to keep everything in its rightful place. The best part? They are super reasonably priced! You will need 5 per week per person, so take that into consideration when ordering.
Keep lunches cold with these slim fit reusable ice packs. They are designed to freeze quickly and take up very little space in a lunch box- perfect for school lunches! Younger kids will love these penguin shaped reusable ice packs. Aren’t they so cute?!
Are you ready to get your kids started on learning how to meal prep? They are going to love these school lunch ideas that are easy to put together, and also tasty and healthy.
Meal Prep – No more boring lunches!
Look at this variety! No more PB&J with this deliciousness from Celebrating Sweets. Almost entirely healthy with turkey and cheese pinwheels, apples, celery, peanut butter and raisins, blueberries and cherry tomatoes this lunch will please even the choosiest of kids.
This lunch is loaded with fruits and veggies kids love. The salami and provolone rounds are easy for kids to turn into rollups.
Kids who are a little more adventurous will love these Thai Chicken Wraps! Don’t they look delicious? Make extra for yourself, or you’ll wish you had! Gimme Delicious has the full recipe.
Damn Delicious puts together these easy Deli Snack Boxes. Sub whatever lunchmeat your child likes to change it up a bit from week to week.
A chicken slider and a nice salad? Looks great to me! This is another lunch I would make for the Grown Ups, too- maybe minus the chocolate milk. Maybe. 😉 Keep dressing and other condiments separate to avoid a soggy mess with these disposable individual condiment containers.
These Ham and Cheese Pinwheels with a Quinoa Summer Salad look fantastic! Older kids likely won’t balk at quinoa, but younger kids may. No worries- any salad you can make a large quantity of would be great with the ham & cheese pinwheels. Pasta salad, maybe? Yum! Find the recipe at Simply Delish Eats.
These Apple Cheese Wraps from Weelicious will be a huge hit! These would be delish with turkey or ham.
If your kids are like my little neighbor guys, they love dipping *everything* in ranch dip! These little Marzetti ranch dippers are a great addition to lunch and an easy way to get your kids to eat some veggies. (Or DIY ranch dip using these individual condiment containers.) Every sandwich is better when it’s shaped like your favorite thing, so let your kids put those cutters to use when they are making their lunches. Lil’ Luna has a few more healthy ranch ideas here.
I love pasta salad lunches, and this BBQ Ranch Chicken Pasta Salad is great because it’s packed with all kinds of goodies for a healthy school lunch. With chicken and black beans, this school lunch is loaded with protein and is a lunch idea that will work for kids and parents alike. Find the ingredients, and additional pasta salad lunch ideas, at Eazy Peazy Mealz.
If your kids like peanut butter and banana sandwiches, they will LOVE these Peanut Butter & Banana Rollups! Add whatever fruits and veggies your kids like and call it lunch. So good!
Kids love a little mid-day love from home. How sweet are these lunch box notes?
My kids always loved a little note in their lunches- even in high school, lol! Tuck one in their lunches and while they may feign embarrassment, they will secretly love it.
Of course it’s a new school year, and of course that means your kids need a fun, new lunch bag to carry these amazing lunches to and from school in! These are some of my favorites.
Unicorns are here to stay and this little girl is too sweet!
Older girls will love this Kate Spade strawberry lunch tote – it is amazing, after all!
Camo-everything is huge around here, and this blue camo print is a nice break from the hunter green pattern I’m used to! This lunch bag is even insulated to help keep food cooler longer.
I think I might actually need this Polar Bear lunch bag- it is so great! But I work from home…but it’s $8…decisions, decisions…
