Bacon. Yummm. Bacon grease all over your range top, counters, backsplash and underside of your exhaust hood? Not yum. Not fun, either. If you’ve tried to make bacon in the microwave, that probably didn’t go well either- overcooked, into a burnt crispy clump? Not yum either.
Good news! You can cook bacon perfectly with very little mess in 20 minutes or less! How’s that you ask? In the oven! Super easy, no mess. Win-Win.
How To Make Bacon Perfectly In The Oven:
- Pre-heat oven to 350 F.
- While the oven is preheating, place bacon on rimmed (very important!!!) baking sheets. Depending on the size of your baking sheets you may need to use two or three. (If your baking sheets are not rimmed the grease will drip off the edges, creating a fire hazard and making a mess of your oven.)
- Line the bacon up, side by side and edges not touching, on the baking sheets.
If you don’t have a nice sheet pan, these are fantastic. They are very well made and don’t “buckle” in the heat of the oven. They are super easy to clean (and dishwasher friendly!!) too.
Pop the sheets in the oven and set your timer for 15 minutes. At the 15 minute mark it should be just about done. Keep an eye on it and remove it from the oven when it has reached your desired level of crispy.
Transfer the bacon from the baking sheets to paper towel, placing paper towel between the layers, and blot off the excess grease.
There you go. The only thing to clean up is the cookie sheets, which if you are like me will go from being rinsed off to directly into the dishwasher where they will live until they come out clean.
You know what Looks Like Happy? Bacon- and a clean kitchen!
